Jenny is a small petite hound mix, who came into the shelter as a stray. She had been found lying in a ditch on Goodrich Road, near the Page County Animal Shelter. Unfortunately, Jenny was never claimed by an owner.

The shelter quickly learned that Jenny had a severely broken leg and that the fracture was very old; she had most likely been hit by a car. Local veterinary providers were unable to fix her leg, so Jenny was referred to a specialist in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Page Paws immediately jumped in to help Jenny and the Page County Animal Shelter , covering her medical bills at the specialist — but her challenges weren’t over yet. Because of the age of her fracture, Jenny developed a post-operative infection.

Because of this, she was put on a rigorous course of expensive antibiotics for eight weeks. Page Paws helped find a local foster home for the shelter, and Jenny made many trips to Charlottesville over several months, with one of our volunteers chauffeuring her each time.

We are happy to report that Jenny made a full recovery and lives a full life today. Her leg was saved, and later, she was adopted by a wonderful family . She now lives in Front Royal, Virginia, where her owner works at a veterinary hospital.
